It truly felt like a whirlwind. It was full of sad ends and exciting new beginnings. My family and I said our hard goodbyes to Spokane and drove almost 30 hours to our new home in southwestern Oklahoma. It’s a blessing and a curse to be a military family with the opportunity to call new places home every few years.
Along the way, I worked with some amazing people. Everyone says they have “the sweetest” clients, but I truly mean it when I say every client I worked with this year was a bright spot in my day and reminded me why I love doing what I do.
Spokane, you were filled with some of my sweetest moments and hardest personal times. Oklahoma, you feel like a fresh beginning where my family will have a sense of normalcy, and my babies will become little boys.
To celebrate 2022 and all the memories that came with it, I rounded up my favorite 22 images, in calendar order.
As you scroll through, you’ll see the biggest common theme for I love these images is the people I’m photographing. Photography is a love language to me.
The honor of taking my brother’s gorgeous girlfriend’s college graduation pictures. She graduated WITH HONORS, in three years. What a wonderful addition to our family she is.
I obviously made my brother jump into a few pictures. I’ve loved capturing their growing love through the years.
The sweet chance to photograph one of my oldest friends in front of the mountain range that raised us.
Grabbed a sweet moment after my sister’s wedding when her God Father was signing her marriage license in the trunk of the car. We have always had the best village.
In June, I headed to North Dakota to photograph THE PARTY OF A LIFETIME aka the Aide Wedding. If you’re wondering, always say yes to the party bus.
I had the joy of photographing the Hartings four different times when we lived in Spokane. From deployment homecomings to bringing baby boy #2 into the world, it was such an honor to capture their journey.
I could write PAGES about how much I adore these two. Helping Lauren plan a surprise proposal for Jess was a HUGE highlight of my year. Leaving them in Washington was too hard!
My dad sitting with my youngest baby boy, outside of my childhood home. A simple, but oh so sweet moment I had to capture.
I’ve known Abby since she was 9 or 10 years old. The honor of photographing her wedding at Spruce Mountain and watching her become such an amazing woman brought me to tears multiple times.
I get emotional every time I look at this picture. This family deserves the world.
K + R’s wedding was one of the most intentional days I’ve been involved in. Their lakeside micro wedding was filled with so much love.
This picture speaks for itself. Photographing this view, and doing it with one of my best friend’s by my side was such a great day.
An emotional dad during a father daughter first look is what wedding photographers DREAM OF.
The look of relief on my best friend’s face says it all. These two mean the world to my family and I. Seeing them reunited felt like all was right in the world.
I got so stinking close with Courtney and Eli. When I say the love for these two is real, I mean it. I even asked Eli’s mom how she raised such a wonderful man, because he treats Courtney like an absolute queen. That’s Eli’s dad behind them fist pumping during their first kiss.
Watching the closest person I have to a big sister walk home with her husband and baby girl after a long deployment. When we moved, we left a piece of our hearts on that street.
Peter and Grey!!!! I’ve been cheering their relationship on since the beginning so it was such a treat to take their ENGAGEMENT pictures!!
Normally the reunion pictures from a deployment homecoming are my favorite, but this picture says so much.
I get such a raw look at relationships when I take deployment homecoming pictures. Alex and Libby’s love is so pure and deep.
Getting to help plan a proposal and surprise the heck out of my little sister’s best friend?!?! NOTHING BETTER.
Taking my friend’s pregnancy announcement pictures is something I’ll never get over. This phase of life is so freaking fun.
The Williams family was my first official session in Altus, only a week after we got here. Watching this momma of three handle everything with so much grace was inspiring to see.
Thank you to everyone who allowed me to illustrate your story this year. And thank you to everyone who followed along and supported me.
